We have been retained to search for a Director of Engineering role in Ottawa with a global manufacturer in the HVAC space. From manufacturing to smart buildings, pharmaceutical clean rooms and data centers, our client’s products not only enhance the health and well being of their customer’s employees, but also have a huge impact on energy efficiency and productivity.
Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer, the Director of Engineering will be responsible for:
- Leading the R&D department in Canada
- Driving product development in close cooperation with product management, sales, purchasing and manufacturing
- Continuously advancing product development processes to ensure time-to-market and efficient use of resources. Utilizing Agile, FMEA and other progressive methodologies to hit KPIs in product design quality, functionality, and total product cost.
The ideal candidate would have a mechanical engineering background with metal/plastic fabrication along with embedded controls development. Most of our client’s products can be controlled with smartphone apps, so IoT and connectivity skills would be an asset. Much of this role will involve quality testing, field testing, value engineering and materials engineering, so having experience manufacturing a tangible “hard good” is essential.
Ultimately our client is looking for a strong, generalist Engineering / R&D leader over core technical expertise in a specific area. There is a real opportunity for a group minded change agent to shape the culture of this organization.
We thank all candidates in advance for their application, but only those invited for interviews will be contacted.
